Was looking for a stop and saw the clean bathrooms sign. We really enjoyed the stop it’s a country store plus they have a bunch of animals to see like the parrot who was super friendly and talkative and bunnies, goats, etc. They sold things like Garlic stuffed olives and pickles asparagus as well as fried pies and fried chocolate covered peanuts. It was a random stop but I’m glad we made it.
If you’re into quirky, this is worth a visit. There were baby goats, rabbits, Guinea pigs and a baby peacock. The cup of strawberry ice cream was made that day with berries from the farm, and it was tasty and plentiful for just $5.
The proprietor was talkative. They also have pickled vegetables and locally made candy for sale.
The place was cluttered and disheveled. Having live animals in the shop contributed to the cleaning challenge.
With ample parking and fresh ice cream it was worth a stop, and the children I saw visiting seemed to enjoy it.
Great potential for a neat little farm stop. There is homemade ice cream and local products like honey. As well as a neat assortment of animals. They say they are working on setting up a petting zoo.
It was a cute place to visit. They had Jellies and a few different things for sale inside. I went with the Kindergarten group. They had it fixed up cute. I was concerned about a few things. One was the play area I double checked for snakes. It seemed like a good place for a snake to hide. One of the slides had a hump at the bottom of it. When my Grand daughter slide down she hurt her bottom. The next day when I was getting her in the tub she had a big bruise from it on her bottom. I think they just need to rethink some safety issues.
I ordered a BBQ sandwich. It was good. The fries were hot.
I've been going to this sweet small business for the past 3 years with friends. The ice cream is amazing, and the peach picking is always fun for the whole family! However, I was recently disappointed in the treatment of their newly installed "petting zoo." The chickens were left in the sun, the bunnies were cramped, and the cockatoo was screaming the entire time. With the recent peach harvest dying from the frost, I understand that the managers are trying to attract more customers with animals, but rather it's been driving customers away. I went a few weeks ago and most customers quickly left due to the uncomfortable living situations and the stench. I do admit that the baby goats seemed very content in their larger, much cleaner area. I believe that if the rest of the animals had a bigger enclosure like those goats, it would make both the animals and visitors happier! Please keep this in mind Backyard Orchards. I think this can really benefit your business as well.
Definitely worth going. Strawberries 13$ a bucket if you pick. We paid 20$ for 3 buckets of peaches. Very nice and friendly people. We have already been twice in 2 weeks. Sweetest fruit ever. They even give you a hay ride to the strawberry patch or peach trees. Had bouncy houses for the kids. Also have concession stand.
Went this morning and according to google’s hours of operation for this place it was suppose to be open. Well it wasn’t. Wasted trip. Also the front area looks really run down and dirty. Would not come back again. Had a similar experience two years ago when we came to pick pumpkins. Most of them were rotted out.
We stopped by here on our way to Florida from Georgia on Sunday, April 18th and Thursday, April 22nd. We had an amazingly great experience the first time and an amazingly awful experience the second time.
We initially stopped because we saw the homemade ice cream sign, not realizing they also offered strawberry picking. When we realized they were a strawberry farm, we asked to go picking and the ladies said there wasn't a lot of strawberries left but we were welcome to go out. This was around 2pm. There were 4 of us and we each managed to scrounge up a half basket each. Everyone was super friendly and nice and when we mentioned that we would be driving back the same way on Thursday, they told us that we should come back because the would be plenty more strawberries by then and it was pick 2 baskets, get 1 free.
Flash forward to Thursday and we stop off again to pick strawberries, this time it was around 3pm. We walked in and asked for the tractor ride to the strawberry fields and the woman there who seemed to be in charge told us they were closing for the day because there were no strawberries left. We were surprised since we were specifically told to come back on this day because there would be strawberries. We explained it to the woman and a man who was working there and they kept saying no, we don't let people pick strawberries until they grow bigger. We were about to leave when the tractor driver returned with a family and not having heard any of our conversations, he wanted us over to the tractor and asked if we were waiting to go to the strawberry fields. Pleasantly surprised, we hopped in and went to the same fields we had been to on Sunday. There was someone else picking strawberries out there and when we got off the tractor, wee could see the strawberries were huge and bright red - it was a much better harvest than when we stopped by on Sunday. We remembered the deal so we each got 3 buckets for a total of 12 buckets of strawberries.
We headed back with our 12 buckets and as they take us up, they told us they didn't have enough cardboard boxes for us so they would need to put a few buckets into bags. We told them it wasn't a problem and we could also combine the strawberries into the boxes they had - that we could make it fit. So as they handed us or cardboard boxes, we started combining to try to fit 12 buckets into the 9 boxes they had. We managed to fit everything but 1 box of strawberries which they put into a bag for us. They rang us up and told us the total was $141. Now at $13 per bucket, buy 2 get 1 free, 12 total buckets that should have cost us only $104.
